Call for Abstracts OPEN: Geo-Risk 2017 and Grouting 2017 / Abstracts due in May, 2016

The G-I Risk Assessment and Management Technical Committee (RAM) of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Geotechnical Safety Network (GEOSNet) announce Geo-Risk 2017: Geotechnical Risk from Theory to Practice, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt Denver in Denver, Colorado on June 4 – 6, 2017. The conference will include a wide range of knowledge-enhancing technical sessions, short courses, workshops and software demonstrations. Several hundred U.S. and international participants from industry, academia, and government agencies are expected to attend.

The Geo-Risk 2017 Program Committee invites you to submit your abstracts now, and join them next June in the vibrant city of Denver to explore the latest research advances and engineering-practice innovations with a focus on the use of probabilistic and risk methodologies in geotechnical engineering.

Learn more about the conference and download a pdf copy of the full Call for Abstracts.

Submit your abstracts via the online paper submission system (MIRA) by May 11, 2016.

All submitted technical papers will be peer-reviewed and, if accepted, published as part of the conference Proceedings, which will be a Geotechnical Special Publication (GSP). Papers published in a GSP are indexed in the Civil Engineering database, Google Scholar, and similar databases. Submissions are encouraged from practitioners, educators, researchers, geotechnical engineers, geoprofessionals, firm owners, and others.

Topics:

In a departure from past Geo-Institute practice, authors are requested to submit their abstracts to track-level topics rather than single sub-topics. The program committee will review all submissions and group them into appropriate sub-topic sessions based on their content.

TRACK A/ Practice of Risk Assessment and Management (in all fields of geoengineering)
TRACK B/ Geohazards (such as landslides, slope failures, dams and levees, earthquakes, and geoenvironmental hazards including those caused by human activity)
TRACK C/ Reliability- and Risk-Based Code Developments
TRACK D/ Advances in Geotechnical Reliability Based Design
TRACK E/ Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Developments and Applications
TRACK F/ Acceptable Risk and Risk Communication (including applications to insurance and financial decision-making)
TRACK G/ Impact of Spatial Variability and Probabilistic Site Characterization
TRACK H/ Uncertainty Relating to Geotechnical Properties, Models, and Testing Methods
TRACK I/ Advances in the Applications of Theory and Practice of Statistics and Probability in Geoengineering
TRACK J/ Emerging Topics
